Elvery, H.C.

We have so far failed to find any biographical detail about this artist.

We are offering one untitled work which was created in January, 1922 and would today probably be categorised as an example of ‘Naïve Art’ meaning work created by artists who had little or no formal artistic training.

The Naive style can sometimes suggest a childlike simplicity and can also display a lack of proportion or perspective, unusual colour combinations and certain stiffness in relation to figures and animals.

The location depicted is also a matter for speculation with suggestions including Kent, England because of the shape of the oast houses and Scandinavia due to the design of the farm house.

We would welcome any information about artist or location.
