Cockayne, Nadia

(1933 – 2018)

Born Nadia Szynkiewicz in Buffalo, New York, USA, Nadia trained at Philadelphia School of Art before working for a time as an illustrator and artist in New York City. Having married the architectural photographer, Jeremy Cockayne, the couple moved to England and settled in rural Suffolk where Nadia painted landscapes (mostly in oils) and also produced some fine glass engravings.

Her children having grown up, Nadia then moved to York where she had several successful exhibitions featuring both still life and landscape works.

Nadia also produced a number of portraits, watercolours, prints and drawings and, in her later years, some very fine oil pastel landscapes.

Following the death of her husband she left York, moving to Rye in East Sussex.
